Ladies Vets League 2021-22
Hi all, I hope you are keeping well in all the correct chaos.

The vets’ fixtures are now online so welcome to the forthcoming season! Thank you for your communications in recent weeks.

Division 1 will start on Saturday, October 2nd and Divisions 2 and 3 will start on Saturday, September 25th. As Division 2 has 11 teams, each team will have one week with no match (eg WBC2 have no match in the opening round).

Please check all your matches, which will start at 1pm on either Saturday or Sunday unless stated otherwise. Please clarify with your opponents if needed.

On that note - following my email to you all in June, in which I asked clubs for feedback on the prospect of more clubs playing on Sundays, I had a number of responses. All were in favour or had no opinion either way with only one stating a preference for Saturdays (but happy to go with the majority). I’ve decided to accept Sunday requests therefore because so many teams are struggling for Saturday court space due to coaching, other leagues and an expansion in social play now that we are out of jail.

Welcome, therefore, to two new teams, Blossomfield 3 and Knowle and Dorridge 2. To make room for them in Division Three, I have promoted WBC2 who finished in third place two seasons ago.

If you have a major problem with any dates as they stand, you have time to contact your opponents and agree a change. Please let me know of any changes by August 15th. After that, the dates are fixed and normal rules for postponements (weather or fitness of courts) will apply.

There are no rule changes from last season. Please take note of Rule 3 regarding playing up and down and if you do have to take advantage of this, please be mindful of the opposition if you are thinking of putting the equivalent of Ash Barty in your lower team.

All fixtures should be completed by March 31st 2022.

I hope we can have a full season. With regard to Covid, we’ll take each situation as it arises I think and I’ll keep you all posted. If there are major problems with teams isolating, there should be time for rearrangements and I am sure everyone will co-operate. We would all rather the matches were played than not at all and with this league we do have some time and room for manoeuvre.

Best wishes and enjoy your tennis!
